POKER PREFLOP RANGES
Poker Preflop Ranges and GTO Charts
Learn how to read preflop ranges by position, format, and action, then practice the spots that matter most in real Texas Hold'em sessions.
Preflop ranges describe which hands a player opens, calls, 3-bets, or folds from a specific situation. GTO charts are useful reference points, but progress comes from learning why the range changes and testing whether you can recall it under pressure.
Build ranges by position
Start with opening ranges for UTG, HJ, CO, BTN, SB, and BB. Earlier positions usually require a tighter baseline because more players remain behind; later positions can open more hands when fewer players can respond.
- Opening ranges by position
- Button steals and small-blind decisions
- Big-blind defense versus common opens
- 3-bet and 4-bet response ranges
Choose the right chart for the game
A 6-max cash-game chart is not the same study target as a tournament or full-ring chart. Keep the format, stack depth, and action line explicit so you do not blend different assumptions while memorizing a range.
- 6-max preflop ranges
- Cash-game preflop ranges
- Tournament and MTT preflop ranges
- Full-ring and 9-max ranges
Turn charts into decisions
Use a chart to learn a spot, hide it, predict the action, and check your answer. RePoker adds timed table drills and FSRS reviews so the range is tested repeatedly instead of being read once and forgotten.
